Schiphol Airport Arrival Guide
A typical arrival has four steps.
What to expect after landing
A typical arrival at Schiphol follows the same sequence for most travellers: leave the aircraft, passport control (if you are entering the Netherlands from outside the Schengen Area), baggage reclaim, customs and the arrivals hall. The time each step takes varies widely with the flight, the time of day and how busy the airport is.
Step by step
- Leave the aircraft and follow the signs to arrivals.
- Passport control: queues differ by passport and time of day.
- Baggage reclaim: check the screens for your flight’s belt number.
- Customs: follow the signs for nothing to declare unless you have items to declare.
- Arrivals hall: this is where you meet your ride or find the train.
