Schiphol Departure Transfer Guide
Work backwards from your flight.
Start from your flight, not the road
The most common departure mistake is planning the taxi first and the airport time second. Work backwards from your flight instead.
A simple method
- Find your airline’s check-in or bag-drop closing time for your flight.
- Decide how early you want to be at the airport beyond that.
- Add the drive time, using the range on your route page.
- Add a buffer for traffic, especially around the Amsterdam ring road at commuter times.
- Set the pickup time on the booking page.
Allow for Schiphol itself
Even after you arrive, you still need to check in or drop bags, pass security and passport control, and walk to the gate. Schiphol is big, so do not leave these to the last minute.
Long-distance departures
If you leave from a place far from Schiphol, such as Eindhoven or further, use the top of the time range and leave earlier. See the Eindhoven to Schiphol page for an example.
